The Halal Gourmet Japan team recently took a trip to Yamanashi Prefecture<\/a>, and we had lunch at T&T Fujiyama Halal Restaurant in Fujiyoshida. Here is our report on the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Restaurant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

T&T Fujiyama Halal Restaurant is a halal-friendly Japanese restaurant<\/a> in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi. The restaurant is spacious, with table seating as well as a raised tatami area, and it has a relaxed atmosphere where you can chat over a leisurely meal. From the staff to the interior \u2014 including a wall covered with colorful message cards \u2014 the whole place feels friendly and welcoming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What We Ate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We had hoto \u2014 Yamanashi\u2019s famous flat-noodle hot pot \u2014 along with ramen and karaage (Japanese fried chicken).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hoto was served in a pot kept warm on a tabletop burner, packed with shrimp, vegetables, and mushrooms. It had a gentle, comforting flavor and was really delicious. There were many flavors of hoto to choose from, so we would love to come back and try a different one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ramen came topped with meatballs and a soft-boiled egg, and we had it together with karaage served with salad. Both came in generous portions and were satisfying and delicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we were eating, two more groups of guests from overseas arrived, and we could feel how popular the restaurant is with international visitors, not only Muslim guests. The staff were very friendly, and we were told that if you visit as a group, calling ahead makes the preparation go more smoothly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prayer Space<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Inside the restaurant, we found information about the prayer space. The prayer space is in the guesthouse next door: take off your shoes at the entrance, and the prayer space is on the right as you enter through the front door. For wudu, you can use the shower room on the left as you enter. The notice is posted in English and Indonesian, and if you have any questions, you can ask the staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
