Hello from Halal Gourmet Japan!
It’s been a little while since our last activity update.
Over the past few months, we’ve been busy with meetings with restaurants and businesses, improving our services, and preparing new initiatives.
During this time, we have continued enhancing our app and website, expanding prayer space information, and building new partnerships with organizations and businesses.
In this article, we’d like to share some of the key activities and developments from May for those wondering, “What has HGJ been working on lately?”
Expanding Prayer Space Information Across Japan
While Halal Gourmet Japan is best known as a halal restaurant platform, our mission goes beyond food. We are committed to helping Muslims feel more comfortable and supported while living in or visiting Japan.
One important part of that mission is providing prayer space information.
In May, we continued adding mosques and prayer spaces across Japan, making it easier for users to find places to pray when they need them.
Whether you’re traveling, sightseeing, or on a business trip, finding a suitable prayer space can sometimes be challenging.
By offering both dining and prayer-related information, we hope to make everyday life and travel in Japan more convenient for Muslim users.
We also carried out in-app notifications to help users discover newly added prayer spaces.
We plan to continue expanding this information in the coming months.
Keeping Restaurant Information Accurate and Up to Date
Adding new restaurants is important, but maintaining accurate information is just as essential.
Restaurant operating hours, halal policies, and business status can change over time.
Throughout May, we not only added new listings but also reviewed existing data, updated restaurant information, and removed outdated listings where necessary.
Our goal is not simply to increase the number of restaurants on the platform, but to ensure that users can rely on the information they find.
Although this work often happens behind the scenes, it is one of the most important aspects of maintaining a trustworthy service.
Making the Website Easier to Use
We also continued improving the user experience on our website.
In May, we introduced a more accessible search experience, including a keyword search feature that helps users find restaurants more quickly.
Users can now search more easily by restaurant name, area, or cuisine type.
We also reviewed how restaurant features and categories are displayed.
Halal and Muslim-friendly accommodations vary from one restaurant to another, so presenting information clearly is just as important as providing detailed information.
Our goal is to help both first-time and returning users find suitable restaurants with confidence.
Strengthening Product Information in Halal Lens
We continued improving Halal Lens, our product information feature that helps users check ingredients and halal-related information.
During May, we expanded product data and added more convenience store products to the database.
Many users encounter situations where they wonder, “Can I eat this product?” while shopping or traveling.
Halal Lens is designed to help answer those questions quickly and conveniently.
As our user community grows, we are receiving more requests for additional products, and we are continuously working to expand our database.
We look forward to making Halal Lens even more useful in the future.
Continuous Improvements Behind the App
Although many of these changes are not immediately visible, we have also been improving the overall app experience.
In May, we worked on notification features, content updates, review-related functionality, and other enhancements designed to improve communication with users.
We also continued efforts to improve app stability and overall quality.
User feedback and reviews remain one of our most valuable resources, and we sincerely appreciate everyone who takes the time to share their thoughts with us.
Building a Stronger Foundation for the Service
Behind the scenes, we have continued investing in the infrastructure and operational foundations that support Halal Gourmet Japan.
Throughout May, we focused on improving performance, strengthening operational processes, and preparing the platform for future growth.
We also continued working on security and reliability improvements to ensure users can enjoy the service with confidence.
Creating new features is important, but maintaining a stable and dependable service is equally essential.
New Collaborations with Restaurants and Businesses
May was also a month of growing partnerships.
We worked with restaurants and businesses on a variety of projects, including halal consultation, promotional support, and product-related initiatives.
Several new restaurant partnerships also began during the month.
Recently, we have been receiving an increasing number of inquiries from businesses asking:
- “We would like to welcome Muslim customers.”
- “Where should we start?”
- “Can you help us understand Muslim-friendly practices?”
These conversations are encouraging and reflect a growing interest in creating a more Muslim-friendly environment throughout Japan.
We hope to continue supporting restaurants and businesses while connecting them with Muslim consumers and communities.
Creating More Muslim-Friendly Choices in Japan
Compared to a few years ago, there are now more options available for Muslim travelers and residents in Japan.
However, challenges still remain.
Many people still struggle to find information, understand accommodation levels, or know where to seek guidance.
Halal Gourmet Japan aims to be a platform that helps solve these challenges little by little.
By connecting users, restaurants, businesses, and communities, we hope to contribute to a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone.
Looking Ahead
In the coming months, we plan to continue expanding restaurant and prayer space information, improving Halal Lens, enhancing search functionality, and strengthening personalized recommendations.
We also hope to deepen collaboration with businesses, local governments, and organizations working to create a more Muslim-friendly Japan.
Closing Thoughts
Recently, we have had the opportunity to speak with an increasing number of restaurants, businesses, and local organizations.
These conversations remind us that while Muslim-friendly initiatives in Japan are still evolving, meaningful progress is being made every day.
At Halal Gourmet Japan, we will continue supporting this progress through both service improvements and partnership development.
While our updates may not always be published on a fixed schedule, we look forward to sharing more of our activities and new initiatives with you in the future.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of Halal Gourmet Japan.
