In Marutamachi, Kyoto, there is a yakiniku restaurant where you can enjoy both Kobe beef and Omi beef. In this article, we introduce Halal A5 Wagyu Yakiniku Sudaku Kyoto.

About the restaurant

Halal A5 Wagyu Yakiniku Sudaku Kyoto is a yakiniku restaurant on Marutamachi-dori, the street that runs between the Kyoto Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle. It is about a 3-minute walk from Marutamachi Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Line, and you can get there from Kyoto Station without changing trains.

The restaurant is run by Sogo Omi Beef Trading Co., Ltd., a meat wholesaler and butcher. The company also exports beef to Malaysia and Indonesia and has run restaurants overseas.

Drawing on its experience in sourcing and cutting meat, it serves each cut in a way that brings out its character.

The team welcomes every guest with one wish: that Muslim visitors to Japan enjoy delicious wagyu yakiniku and make it a special part of their trip.

The interior is calm, with warm wood finishes, and there are 60 seats. Most are table seats, and there are also partitioned booths and private rooms, so it works well for a meal with family or friends as well as for larger groups.

What sets this restaurant apart is the chance to compare Kobe beef and Omi beef at the same restaurant.

Both rank among the very best wagyu in Japan. Alongside halal Omi beef, the restaurant also serves halal Kobe beef.

Yakiniku is a Japanese way of eating in which you grill the meat yourself at your table. You can cook each piece just the way you like it and eat it straight off the grill.

Cooking wagyu yourself at the table is an experience worth having on your trip to Japan.

The food

The most popular menu item is a course for Muslim guests, the Halal Assorted A5 Kuroge Wagyu and Japanese Chicken Course (8,800 yen per person). It centers on A5-grade Omi beef, with 300 g of wagyu and 40 g of Japanese chicken.

The wagyu comes as five rare cuts, so you can compare melt-in-your-mouth kainomi (a tender cut from the belly side, near the tenderloin) with richly flavored lean cuts and more.

The course also includes an assortment of fragrant grilled chicken, a platter of seafood to grill (hamayaki) with the aroma of the sea, a Japanese-style salad, Omi rice (grown in the same region as Omi beef), and an egg soup to finish. The rice is all-you-can-eat, so the course is generous in volume.

From the à la carte menu, signature dishes include the premium A5 Omi beef karubi (2,749 yen), rich with marbling, and the premium akami (2,199 yen), a lean cut with a lighter taste. There is also a special set to share between two people (8,799 yen). All prices include tax and are as of October 2026.

The rest of the menu is on the restaurant’s official site: see the menu page and the course page.
