    About Ibaraki

Ibaraki: Mount Tsukuba, Kairakuen and Neighborhood Mosques

Ibaraki, northeast of Tokyo, is home to Kairakuen in Mito — one of Japan's three great gardens, celebrated for its plum blossoms — and Mount Tsukuba, whose twin peaks have long been admired alongside Mount Fuji. The science city of Tsukuba adds a modern face to the prefecture.

In Ibaraki, Halal Gourmet Japan features a lamb barbecue restaurant that says it uses halal meat authenticated by a public organization, an Indian restaurant whose cooks trained in India, and a vegan restaurant in Tsukuba that also sells daily goods made without animal-derived ingredients.

What stands out in Ibaraki is how widely mosques are listed across the prefecture — Tsukuba Masjid, Mito Mosque, Hitachi Masjid and Yuuki Masjid among them — several with qibla direction and wudu facilities, making it easier to find a prayer place near wherever you are staying.

Walk among the plum groves of Kairakuen, hike Mount Tsukuba, and use the Halal Gourmet Japan map to line up meals and prayer along your route.
