Tokushima: Whirlpools, Awa Odori and Mount Bizan
Tokushima, on the island of Shikoku, is famous for the great whirlpools of the Naruto Strait and for Awa Odori, one of Japan's best-known summer dance festivals. Mount Bizan rises right behind the city center, overlooking the town.
On Halal Gourmet Japan, the listings include a restaurant registered as certified halal on the top floor of a hotel two minutes' walk from JR Tokushima Station, where you can enjoy a dedicated halal menu of Japanese cuisine while looking out at Mount Bizan. There is also a Muslim-owned Turkish restaurant registered as certified halal, close to a mosque and the train station, which serves no alcohol.
For prayer, the listings include Tokushima Masjid, which has qibla direction and wudu facilities. Checking the location on the map in advance makes it easier to combine prayer with the whirlpools and the city.
Use the Halal Gourmet Japan map to line up meals and prayer along your route, and enjoy Tokushima's straits, dance culture and mountain views at your own pace.
