    About Okayama

    Okayama: The Land of Sunshine

Okayama, on the Seto Inland Sea, is known as the "Land of Sunshine" for its many clear days. Its highlights are refined rather than flashy: Korakuen, one of Japan's three great landscape gardens, the black-walled Okayama Castle beside it, and the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, where white-walled storehouses line a willow-fringed canal.

In Okayama, Halal Gourmet Japan features an Indian home-style restaurant registered as certified halal, which describes vegetable-centered cooking with organically grown vegetables and a prayer space with wudu facilities open even to visitors not dining there. A French restaurant run by a wedding venue describes vegan and halal course menus along with seasonal afternoon tea using Okayama's fruit, and there is also a Japanese restaurant registered with halal-dedicated kitchenware and tableware.

For prayer, the listings include the Okayama Islamic Center (Okayama Masjid) with qibla direction and wudu facilities, Masjid Indonesia Kurashiki, and the prayer space at Hotel Granvia Okayama, which is described as open to non-guests as well.

Stroll the garden paths of Korakuen and the canal-side streets of Kurashiki, and use the Halal Gourmet Japan map to line up meals and prayer along your route through the Land of Sunshine.
