Halal Gourmet Japan lists 40 restaurants and shops in Hokkaido (as of October 2026). About half of them are in Sapporo. The rest are spread across the island, in places such as Otaru, Asahikawa, Obihiro and the Tokachi area, as well as resorts like Niseko and Rusutsu.

Hokkaido is large, so it helps to look for places to eat by where you are going. This guide is organized by destination: Sapporo, New Chitose Airport and Otaru, Asahikawa, Obihiro and Tokachi, and other towns and resorts. The descriptions are based on what each restaurant says on its listing page.

Ramen and Japanese food in Sapporo

Halal Ramen YUKIMIYAKO – Wagyu & Sushi Sapporo in Susukino serves ramen and Japanese dishes. Along with its Wagyu ramen in a chicken paitan broth, it offers Wagyu shabu-shabu and sushi. In Minami 3-jo Higashi 1-chome, HALAL WAGYU RAMEN SHINJUKU-TEI Sapporo Hokkaido serves halal-certified Wagyu ramen and has a prayer space inside.

It is certified by Hokkaido as a “Kita no Megumi Aishoku Restaurant.” Fukunoki, in Minami 4-jo Nishi 10-chome, is a noodle shop focused on vegetables and chicken, and its shrimp dishes are the most popular. The owner says they do not eat pork or drink alcohol themselves. Houryu has its main ramen shop in Minami 6-jo Nishi 3-chome.

For seafood rice bowls (kaisendon), Donburichaya Nijo Market is in Nijo Market, a long-established market in Sapporo. It recommends its daily seafood bowl made with whatever is in season, and its grilled hokke (Atka mackerel) and soups are also popular.

Sapporo also has restaurants serving food from around the world.

India Curry Shop Mirch, in Minami 5-jo Nishi 20-chome, is an Indian curry restaurant that opened in 1982. The food is cooked by an Indian chef who is Muslim, and the restaurant is proud of its curry, made with organic onions and no added water. It says it has recently created a dedicated menu for Muslim guests.
